Yetu (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a community empowerment platform designed to help citizens collaborate, report issues, and fund solutions within their communities. This policy explains our practices regarding the collection and use of your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

Personal Information: Name, email address, and profile picture provided during account creation.
Precise Location Data: With your permission, we collect your precise location to show nearby community reports, identify your suburb for GeoJSON overlays, and accurately pin infrastructure issues.
User Communications: If you use our chat features, we securely store your messages to enable real-time communication between users.

2. Camera and Image Data

Yetu requires access to your device’s Camera to allow you to take and upload photos for community reports.

These images are uploaded to our secure servers at https://yetu.app. We do not use the camera for any other purpose and we do not access your existing photo gallery unless you explicitly choose to upload a saved image.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide core app functionality (mapping, reporting, and alerts).
To verify community member status and maintain platform trust.
To send critical push notifications regarding local infrastructure status.

4. Data Sharing and Retention

We do not sell your personal data. User-generated reports and images are shared with other community members and local authorities as part of the app's core mission.

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You may request data removal at any time.

5. Data Deletion & Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information.

Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app settings.
Request Deletion: Alternatively, you may contact support@yetu.app to request that your data be purged from our servers.

6. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/SSL) to protect your data during transit. Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel.
